ghostman I got this in my e-mail this morning in response to the Call for Guest Posts page on Baby Boomers. I thought it best to include an excerpt of the communication to give you a little background on Kathryn and ProProfs and the reasons behind the whole concept of Brain Games.

Kathryn wrote in part:

ProProfs Brain Games includes an archive of over 4,000 games
and a new feature that allows users to create their own custom games and then
upload them to any webpage. Now you can make your own Brain Exercises and share
with friends and readers!

The four pillars of mental health are:
1. Mental Exercise
2. Stress Management
3. Physical Exercise
4. Nutrition

ProProfs Brain Games can help you with half the battle. Brain Games are proven
to increase the ability to perform specific mental tasks and functions at
normal or above skill levels. Doctors are actually prescribing Brain Games to
their patients because they also help your brain deal with stress better and
stave off mental diseases, such as Alzheimer’s and dementia.

We invite you to try out ProProfs Brain Games for yourself – we’re sure you’ll feel smarter and enjoy every minute. If you have any questions, I’m here to help!

Thanks for your time,
Kathryn Bresnik

The first game I played was the Ghost one, it reminded me of PacMan and was just as much fun as I remembered from days gone bye.
I realize these are supposed to be good for you, but when they are this much fun… who cares!

I’m interested in brain games. Do you know of any analysis of the different games as to how effective they are?

I’d like to add the information to a post I did on how to keep your brain healthy as you grow older.

      Hey Rita,
I personally am not familiar enough with Brain Games to answer that.
I suggest you go to the site itself and use their contact information and get the answer straight from them.

There are 3 keys to insuring a brain game is good for you with respect to brain health and fitness. They are 1) novelty, 2) variety and 3) challenge. These 3 keys are dependent on you and your experience. For instance, crossword puzzles may be novel and a challenge to you, but not another. If these 3 keys are true for you for a given game, then it will be of benefit to you and your brain. ;-)

      Hey Gary,
I agree about everything you say, but I find it quite the challenge just keeping up with writing 3 Blogs, a Forum and running a Computer Consulting business.
BUT, I love a good game when I find time. :-)
